I am a patient with a rare autoimmune disease called Scleroderma. It affects approximately 1 in every 100,000 people. There is no cure for this destructive disease. The National Scleroderma Foundation holds Walks to Cure Scleroderma all over the country. My husband and I organized the first event to have ever been held in South Bend last year and it was a great success. This year we are reaching out to attract more of the community to join us. The pre-party begins a 9am with face painting, games, and music at Pavillion 2 in the park across from the zoo entrance. At 10 we gather in our teal event shirts and walk through the park and into the zoo. Our walking route keeps in mind those who may have limitations, so it's not too long. Once we gather for a group picture everyone is free to enjoy their day as they'd like! The cost of the registration includes a ticket into the zoo for those who are not members.
